4:22 p.m.: An officer on patrol in the 1400 block of E. Montezuma Ave. spotted a man and woman pushing a Safeway cart, followed by two store employees, and cited the woman for shoplifting and the man for shoplifting and possessing an open container of alcohol. Both were given trespass notices. The cart contained deli products, a bottle of Dr. Pepper and a 30-pack of beer.
8:11 p.m.: An officer on patrol spotted a pedestrian with an outstanding warrant and arrested him in the 700 block of S. Cedar St.
10:47 p.m.: A woman was pulled over after allegedly running a stoplight at W. Seventh St. and South Broadway and arrested for driving with a revoked license, no proof of insurance and running a stoplight.
10:38 p.m.: An officer pulled over two bicyclists for riding without lights and arrested the man on an outstanding warrant.
Monday, Aug. 13
9:42 a.m.: A man reported that a Rotary Club bell and $60 had been stolen from his car, parked at his home in the 900 block of Livesay Drive. He noted that he checked with several shops to see if it had been pawned.
3:56 p.m.: A man suspected of shoplifting at the Giant station at 2320 E. Main St. was arrested for possessing marijuana, in violation of a protection order. Giant did not press shoplifting charges, but did request a trespass order.
10:23 p.m.: A man was arrested for harassment and disorderly conduct in the 10 block of E. Fourth St. The man allegedly pounded on the windows of a car that contained children who were waiting for their parents at their friend’s house.
Thursday, Aug. 23
2:37 a.m.: A man who reportedly had been sleeping in the road near East Main Street and South Mildred Road was arrested for being intoxicated in the road. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.
3:25 a.m.: A silver Honda Accord with the Colorado license plate WBO320 was reported stolen at Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St.
12:50 p.m.: A westbound vehicle rear-ended a vehicle at the stoplight on West Main Street and South Broadway, then veered onto the median.
3:14 p.m.: A man with New Mexico license plates was pulled over in the 900 block of E. Seventh St., arrested on a La Plata County warrant and cited for speeding.
5:41 p.m.: A man who reportedly was sleeping near the duck pond at 515 N. Mildred St. was arrested for violating alcohol-related conditions of four warrants, medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.
8:47 p.m.: A man was arrested for violating a protection order by visiting a woman at the Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway.
10:36 p.m.: An officer responded to a report of domestic violence in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St., and arrested a woman on suspicion of possessing meth. She denied that domestic violence had occurred.
Friday, Aug. 24
6:55 a.m.: A woman reported that a window of her car had been broken in the 500 block of S. Chestnut St. and was advised to seek a protection order against the woman she suspected in the incident.
8:52 a.m.: A northbound vehicle on North Broadway collided with a vehicle turning south from Lebanon Road.
1:07 p.m.: A man in custody at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served with a warrant.
11:43 p.m.: Police investigated a report of domestic violence at a residence in the 600 block of W. Second St. Her face was bloodied, and her neck bore marks indicating that she might have been choked. Her husband was arrested eight hours later on East Main St.
Saturday, Aug. 25
2:33 a.m.: A man riding a scooter was arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing a controlled substance (meth), vehicular eluding, disregarding a stop sign and tampering with evidence after leading police on a brief pursuit from North Mildred Road to Alma Avenue via Jackson, Cornett and Willow streets. He allegedly flipped off police and tossed the meth on the road during the pursuit. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital because he complained of pain after his arm was caught in the patrol car’s door as it closed.
4:35 p.m.: A man was found hiding outside a residence in the 600 block of S. Market St. and arrested on three warrants – failure to appear on two assault charges and failure to appear on a drug charge.
5:50 p.m.: A man was arrested for possessing an open container of alcohol at the skate park, 1200 E. Montezuma Ave., medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.
Sunday, Aug. 26
12:05 a.m.: A pedestrian was arrested for being intoxicated in a roadway after allegedly colliding with a stopped patrol car in the 700 block of E. Montezuma Ave. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.
2:48 a.m.: Police responded to a disturbance between a man and woman at the Travel Lodge, 1020 E. Main St., and arrested the man on suspicion of third-degree assault, domestic violence and resisting arrest. An officer pepper-sprayed the man during the arrest, and medics treated him. The woman declined medical treatment for her scraped knees and elbows.
10:06 a.m.: A vehicle hit the rear of a vehicle that was backing out of a driveway in the 200 block of W. Seventh St.
10:41 a.m.: A woman was arrested on a La Plata County warrant in City Park, 800 E. Main St., after she allegedly had an argument with her son.
6:44 p.m.: A woman was arrested for shoplifting $21.94 in deli food and mouthwash from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. She and a male companion were trespassed from the store.
Monday, Aug. 27
2:42 p.m.: A woman who was looking for a lost wallet at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., was arrested on a warrant, and her wallet was returned.
7:07 p.m.: A man who turned himself in at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was arrested and jailed on two felony warrants.
8:33 p.m.: A man was arrested for disturbing the peace at the water dock, 20 N. Park St. He allegedly spit and cussed at an officer at Southwest Memorial Hospital and was given a spit hood. He refused medical attention, then was jailed.
Tuesday, Aug. 28
12:12 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of S. Chestnut St. on suspicion of domestic violence and third-degree assault. A pregnant woman was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for possible injuries including a bumped forehead and a bumped and bruised forearm. The man, who apparently suffered a bite wound on a finger, was medically cleared at the hospital.
11:16 p.m.: Two men were arrested at the Sleeping Ute Apartments, 500 S. Madison St., after reportedly arguing and/or fighting with their juvenile nephew.
Wednesday, Aug. 29
1:38 a.m.: A man was arrested after a disturbance involving his wife at a residence in the 1400 block of S. Mildred Road.
