11:43 p.m.: A man at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds, 30100 U.S. Highway 160, was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He said he was walking to Durango.
Sunday, Aug. 5
11:05 a.m.: A man who lives in the 36100 block of County Road K.3 was cited with unlawful ownership of a dangerous animal – the man’s third dog-related summons – after his dog allegedly killed two of his neighbor’s chickens and a turkey. The dog bared his teeth at the deputy, who drew his gun.
Monday, Aug. 6
11:34 a.m.: A man who lives in the 36100 block of County Road K.3 was cited with not having his dog under control and with unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog after his dog allegedly killed two of his neighbor’s chickens and a turkey. It was the man’s second summons for owning a dangerous dog in two days, and was allegedly the dog’s second attack in two days.
4:43 p.m.: A man reported that his mailbox in the 12900 block of U.S. Highway 491, had been damaged. While the man and a deputy talked, a third man pulled up on a hay baler and said that he hit it and would pay for the damage, estimated at $90.
5:05 p.m.: A man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was remanded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Wednesday, Aug. 8
9:43 a.m.: A man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on two felony warrants.
9:45 a.m.: A man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on a felony warrant.
10:50 a.m.: A woman at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on a drug-related warrant and a felony warrant.
5:02 p.m.: A man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was remanded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
10:51 a.m.: A man who lives in the 30200 block of County Road S.7 called in sick by texting a photo of an apparent gunshot wound on his calf. He said that while sitting on his porch the night before, he felt a sting on his leg. He said he didn’t hear a gunshot and didn’t know where the shot came from. His wife and son also said they didn’t hear a gunshot. He declined help from medics. He appeared intoxicated, and a deputy noted alcoholic beverages scattered about the residence.
Thursday, Aug. 9
12:02 a.m.: A man at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a warrant.
4:36 p.m.: A man at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a misdemeanor warrant.
10:56 p.m.: A man at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a warrant.
11:09 p.m.: A woman at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served four warrants.
Friday, Aug. 10
10:20 p.m.: A woman and her daughter were cited with animal cruelty after allegedly leaving their injured dog without food or water under a tarp in their backyard in the 6200 block of County Road 24.2. A neighbor reported the incident after hearing the dog whine for three or four days. The dog appeared to be blind, had sand in an eye, and fluid leaked from its side. After repeated requests from the daughter, a deputy euthanized the dog with a shot from his revolver.
Saturday, Aug. 11
1:24 p.m.: A man reported that he found a human-like jawbone and spine while walking his dog at McPhee Reservoir north of the 19000 block of County Road 27. A Bureau of Land Management ranger responded to the scene, and Montezuma County Coroner George Deavers collected the bones.
7:54 p.m.: A man was pulled over in the 13000 block of Colorado Highway 145 for a cracked windshield and obstructed license plate and detained for a DUI investigation. He said he had smoked medical marijuana and had a prescription for Zoloft. He was taken to Southwest Memorial for a blood test, then to the county jail and cited with DUI. His dog and vehicle were released to his sister.
Monday, Aug. 13
12:03 a.m.: A woman was pulled over for a cracked windshield in the 6500 block of County Road 24.25 and arrested for driving while under DUI restrictions.
Tuesday, Aug. 14
12:30 a.m.: A man at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a warrant.
1:44 a.m.: A man was pulled over for a nonworking taillight in the 29000 block of U.S. Highway 160 and arrested on a warrant from Durango.
