10:16 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a misdemeanor warrant.
11:52 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 100 block of West Fourth Street. A woman told police a cooler, valued at $100, and five pieces of patio screening, valued at $30 each, had gone missing from her unlocked shed. The case remains under investigation.
12:14 p.m.: Police responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident in the 400 block of West Main Street. One vehicle reportedly ran a red light and collided with the other, causing extreme damage to both vehicles.
5:12 p.m.: A man was arrested on Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of unlawful possession and distribution of a controlled substance after a car in which he was riding was pulled over for parking in a lane of traffic. Police reportedly followed the vehicle after receiving a report that it had been involved in a drug deal at Conoco Gas Station, and got permission from the female driver to search it. Police found two bags of marijuana, two bags containing more than 400 codeine pills, several empty plastic containers, $25 in cash and a .22 rifle. The man reportedly said the pills and the gun belonged to his grandfather, but when police contacted him, he said he had only one bottle of prescription pills that he kept in a secure location. The gun was returned to him and the female driver was released with no charges.
11:49 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in the 100 block of West Fifth Street after they were pulled over for driving without license plate lights. A meth pipe was reportedly visible in the glove box, leading officers to search the vehicle and its occupants. Several small bags of marijuana were found in the man’s possession, and packages of meth were reportedly found in the woman’s purse and in front of her seat. The woman also reportedly gave officers a meth pipe and a bag of meth she had concealed in her bra. Both people were arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The male driver was also charged with driving with a defective license plate lamp.
Thursday, July 12
8:35 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing at McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St.
10:07 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Days Inn, 645 E. Main St., on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after she and a man who was with her requested police presence while they removed their belongings from the room, which motel staff had asked them to vacate. After finding a bag of heroin in the room, police got permission to search the woman’s belongings and found a meth pipe, three syringes, a straw of the type used in consuming drugs and a lump of solid heroin. She reportedly told police all the drugs belonged to a man and woman whom she had earlier accused of breaking into the room and stealing things. Police could not find any evidence for the burglary claim.
4:07 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on a misdemeanor warrant and on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI, driving under restraint and possession of drug paraphernalia. Although the man refused to give officers permission to search his truck, one of them reportedly saw what he believed to be a meth kit inside. A package of meth, a meth pipe and a BB gun were found in the vehicle.
9:07 p.m.: Police responded to a three-vehicle traffic accident in the 20 block of South Broadway. One vehicle reportedly stopped in the southbound lane to avoid hitting another, which was making a U-turn. A third vehicle then rear-ended the second vehicle, causing it to hit the first one.
Friday, July 13
2:21 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 10 block of South Market Street. A man reported a revolver valued at $400, an iPod valued at $25 to $30, a bag valued at $60 and 4 grams of marijuana valued at $40 had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. the previous night, while he was parked outside Once Upon a Sandwich. The case remains under investigation.
1:21 p.m.: A woman was mistakenly arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after employees reported she was intoxicated and refusing to leave. The Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office reportedly said at first that she was on pretrial release with bond conditions that prevented her from drinking, but later realized they had made a mistake. The woman was released and transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital after telling officers she was suicidal.
2:26 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a misdemeanor warrant.
3:30 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft at the Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway. The motel owner told police he believed an employee had stolen a package valued at $800 that was delivered on July 6. The employee said he had put the package near the office, where his employer told him to put it, and it had been there when he left his shift. The case remains under investigation.
4:20 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 500 block of South Chestnut Street. A man reported he had ordered some headlights and headlight bulbs for his vehicle, valued at $165 total, and had never received them despite Amazon assuring him they had been delivered at 3 p.m. the previous day. The case was declared inactive due to a lack of suspects or leads.
5:06 p.m.: Police responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident in the 2500 block of East Main Street. A vehicle reportedly failed to yield right of way at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle that was going through the intersection.
6:41 p.m.: A man was arrested in the parking lot of Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing, disturbing the peace and interfering with an officer after police reportedly saw him harassing a woman who was selling sno-cones. When officers tried to escort him away from the parking lot, he reportedly jerked away from them, and an officer forced him to the ground, where he continued to struggle while being handcuffed. He was medically cleared for jail at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
Saturday, July 14
12:15 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of West Fifth Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge after police contacted him for sleeping in the back of a parked vehicle. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
10:46 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1 block of North Madison Street on suspicion of DUI, driving without proof of insurance and speeding. He reportedly had been drinking at The Loungin’ Lizard and was heading to Mancos.
10:55 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of South Madison Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge after a report of a girl crying for her dad. A woman reported the man had been in an argument with two other people. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
Sunday, July 15
1:09 a.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of disregarding a stop sign, driving without registration or insurance, riding a motorcycle without eye protection and operating a defective vehicle near the intersection of South Beech and East Sixth Streets. An officer reportedly tried to pull him over on West Seventh Street, but he rode a few blocks before stopping.
3:52 a.m.: A woman was cited on suspicion of driving the wrong way on a one-way street and driving while impaired in the 10 block of South Beech Street. When she was pulled over, she reportedly was having trouble breathing and told officers she was having an asthma attack. Medical personnel treated her on the scene.
