9:13 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of found property in the 27000 block of County Road 21. A woman turned in several items she said she had found in a hay barn on July 13, including a Samsung cell phone, a marijuana pipe, a lighter and a used syringe. Deputies destroyed the pipe, lighter and syringe, and entered the cell phone as found property while they searched for its owner.

10:09 a.m.: A man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. A woman was also turned in by a bondsman and arrested on two misdemeanor warrants.

10:54 a.m.: A man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

7:46 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a hit-and-run traffic accident outside West Fork Gallery, 105 S. Fifth Ave., Dolores. A witness reported a silver Jeep had backed into a parked Jeep and driven away. The second Jeep sustained minor damage to its bumper, which the owner said could cost up to $3,000 to replace. The case remains under investigation.

Friday, July 20

11:03 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of fraud in the 20000 block of U.S. Highway 491. A woman reported someone had repeatedly hacked into her veterans’ benefits account, on one occasion removing $3,594.83. Deputies contacted the regional FBI field office about the case.

6:36 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 16000 block of County Road 23. A man reported two chain saws and a piece of Native American pottery had been stolen from his house. When deputies questioned the other occupants of the house, they said nothing had gone missing and that the reporting party had a tendency to imagine things when under the influence of meth and marijuana. He was reportedly showing signs of being under the influence while talking to the responding deputies, and they declared the case closed due to a lack of evidence.

Sunday, July 22

10:22 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 25000 block of County Road N. A man reported his semi-automatic handgun, valued at $390, and three loaded magazines had been stolen from a “secret compartment” in his truck between 6:30 and 11:15 a.m. that day. The case remains under investigation.
