A van collided with a semitrailer at the intersection of U.S. Highways 160 and 491 about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
No injuries were reported.
According to Cortez Police Sgt. Glen Edwards, the collision occurred as the driver of a southbound van on U.S. 160 merged onto southbound U.S. 491 and then attempted to make a right turn into the Keesee Motor Co. But in doing so, he crossed into the adjacent lane and collided with the front of a southbound semi coming from U.S. 491.
The driver of the van was issued a ticket for improper right turn and careless driving.
The accident caused the West Y intersection to be closed for about an hour as the wreckage was cleared. Cortez Police, Cortez Fire Protection District and a Southwest Health System ambulance responded to the scene.
