Ladies Night Out is coming up on Saturday, April 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cortez Elks Lodge, 2100 N. Dolores Road.
The Cultural Center is now accepting vendor applications for this event. Do you give massages, manicures, astrology readings, financial advice or haircuts? Do you sell candles, jewelry, skin care, makeup or vitamins? If so call the Cultural Center today at 565-1151 for an application. Ladies Night Out provides a relaxing environment for women to browse vendor services, and provides vendors with an excellent opportunity to showcase their specialties.
Registration is underway for the annual Ute Mountain Mesa Verde Birding Festival, which runs May 11-15. The festival committee has worked hard to create new and exciting birding tours. This is a popular event, so tours fill up quickly. Call the center or check out www.utemountainmesaverdebirdingfestival.com for more information.
Linda Raczek, Hawkins Preserve manager, reports that the St. Patricks Day fundraiser for Hawkins was a big success! Celtic Knot, the musical group from Farmington that donated its talent for the evening, got more animated and fun as the night went on, even entertaining us during clean-up. Many thanks for the exceptional support of board members and volunteers who made the event happen. Our cooks Andrew Becker and Catherine Kraus should have gotten a standing ovation for the corned beef and vegetable dinner they spent all day cooking. Thanks to our outstanding business sponsors: Main St. Brewery, Budweiser, City Market, Safeway, West Slope Liquor, Cliffrose, Rocky Mountain One-Stop, Susies Hallmark and Lanmark, as well as private donors of money and silent auction items. Our fundraising grand total was about $1,000 toward our goal of restoring the Hawkins Pueblo roof and site. Thank you again to everyone for your support!
