Economic development, livestock ordinances and construction to improve U.S. Highway 160 are some of the issues Mancos town candidates took on in a recent Q&A with The Journal.
All candidates were also given the opportunity to talk about what they see as the main issues facing the town.
The five open Mancos Town Board seats will likely be filled by Lorraine Becker, Ed Hallam, Craig Benally, Matthew Baskin and Fred Brooks after the April 5 election, unless a write-in candidate jumps into the race.
The deadline for write-in candidates to file is March 16.
However, the election will still determine the length each person serves. The top three in election will serve for four years, and the bottom two will serve two-year terms.
Voters will also be deciding between Trustees Queenie Barz and Will Stone who are both running for mayor. The Journal published transcribed responses to questions posed to the mayoral candidates Feb. 12.
This time, all the candidates provided written responses to the questions, which have been all edited slightly for grammar and style.
