With buzz percolating through the Las Vegas air, Eli Tomac overcame a near crash to finish second in the final race of the AMA Supercross season.
For Tomac, the second place finish marked his 11th top–three result during a season that featured three wins. Tomac finished second in the series point standings behind series champion Ryan Dungey.
“The highlight of the season was getting three wins,” said Tomac in a GIECO Motorcycle press release. “Being consistent and staying healthy through the whole season was important too. I’ve got to stay a huge thanks to GEICO Honda and everyone on the team.”
After a stellar start to his race in Las Vegas, Tomac found himself just behind Dungey throughout the early laps of the main event. After a brief slip cost Tomac valuable seconds however, he settled into second place and Dungey pulled away for the win.
“It was a blast, for sure,” said Tomac. “It was set up perfectly for a great battle between Ryan and I, but I lost my front end there. At that point, I had to settle into second because Ryan was setting such a quick pace.”
With the Supercross season now complete, Tomac will turn his attention to the Motocross season, which begins in Sacramento on May 16.
