"Everyone wore pink feather boas and crazy pink sunglasses. It was fun," Tompkins said.

Lion cub starts off morning
Deborah Hager and her daughter Krystle had an exciting experience this week on their way to the bus stop. Somewhere along Road 28, they saw a small cat cross the road. It turned out to be a baby mountain lion, because sure enough just a little bit after the cub crossed the road, a big ol' momma mountain lion followed behind, Deborah was sure it was the little one's mom.
Deputies track bushman
The town of Dolores called in the Montezuma County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday over an incident of illegal dumping. It turns out, someone pulled a large bush out of their yard and dragged it down Central Avenue, then left it on town property at the end of Central Avenue.
It didn't take long for deputies to follow the trail of debris and track down the culprit. The deputies then told the person responsible that he can't do that and to kindly remove the large bush. He got it taken care of right away.
Town Hall gets long weekend
Speaking of Town Hall, the office at 420 Central Ave. will be closed Friday, Oct. 10 and Monday, Oct. 13.
Because the offices will be closed on Monday, the Dolores Town Board will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m., instead of its usual Monday meeting. The board will look at the preliminary budget and hear from the Forest Service about applying for a grant to get the Overlook trail linked up with other mesa.
Ice cream for a cause
Teresa Howell, owner at Pony Expresso, says she will continue to sell ice cream cones for $1 a piece and all the money will go to a local teenager who is battling lymphoma. The money will go to her mounting medical expenses and the large amount of travel needed in order to meet with specialists. I will tell you that the ice cream is delicious and it is even better without the guilt because you know you are helping a family in need. Howell says her goal is to raise $2,000.
