Cheryl Dean, the owner of Antique Corral, a long-established Cortez business, has just had a taste of what unwarranted hatred can do.
In a climate of hatred, nothing is accomplished.
Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hatred cannot drive out hatred. Only love can do that.”
Berating people because they are not doing what we think they should do is not the key.
Try some honest communication and a willingness to listen and get your ego out of the way.
Love is what builds bridges between people.
Try it on Cheryl Dean. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Also, to the writer who said mostly white people live in this area, you are showing your racial insensitivity with that comment. This is an ethnically diverse area. Truly open your eyes and you will see what I mean.
