Multiple fire agencies on Friday afternoon were fighting a brush fire west of Narraguinnep Reservoir off County Road 23 north of Colorado Highway 184.
Dispatch called for assistance from the Dolores Fire Protection District shortly after 3 p.m. Friday. The Lewis-Arriola Fire Protection District and Pleasant View Fire Department also responded to the scene.
According to Lewis-Arriola firefighter Dyrl Graf, the fire was caused by a controlled burn that got out of control during windy conditions. His department received support from brush trucks from Dolores and Pleasant View.
Montezuma County Sheriff’s deputy Jared Kaime said it appeared the departments were doing “mop up” work by 4 p.m.
