What a wonderful show the Harlem Ambassadors put on for us Saturday night! Our local team the Montezuma Mavericks did the best they could against these super talented athletes. We thank them for all their efforts. Thank you also to all the volunteers who helped make the game such a successful night.
Stop by the gift shop and see the work of feature artist Barbara Lynch. Her work will be on display the entire month of March. Fellow Southwest Art League member Joe Slaughenhoupt is showing his work at the Cortez Public Library.
The Cultural Center has been offered a $50,000 grant to give new life and roof to the notorious shed at the Hawkins Preserve. It would also pay for the professional stabilization of the archaeological site the Hawkins Pueblo. Help us realize Jack Hawkins vision for the preserve as a true educational asset for the community. We need to raise a 25 percent match to receive the grant. Please consider being a donor at any level, and attend our fundraisers.
We have a fun one scheduled for next Thursday, March 17, our St. Patricks Day Celebration evening. Dinner will include traditional corned beef, potatoes, cabbage and soda bread dinner, with Irish desserts. Your meal can be enjoyed on site or for take-out. There will be beer, and live music by Celtic Knot, Farmington musicians Shawn & Allison Reynolds. Dinner will start at 5:30 p.m., with music at 6:30 p.m. Prices for this event are $18 members and $20 for nonmembers. If you want to volunteer with food or otherwise, let us know. Call 565-1151 and ask for Linda.
