Dolores runner Hufman finishes 20th

After a several-year absence from the Class 2A State Cross-country Championships, Dolores High School was represented at the state cross-country championships by junior Phillip Huffman, who placed sixth (17:23) at the Region 1 Championships in Delta on Oct. 21.
Hufman finished 20th in the 1A and 2A state cross-country championships on Saturday, with a time of 17:38.5.
He finished about 6 seconds ahead of Mancos runners Jake McKie, who came in 22nd, and about 44 seconds behind Simon Kearns, making him the second-fastest runner from Montezuma County schools.
Known for his tireless work ethic and ability to perform well in big meets, Huffman looked to establish himself as one of the state’s top juniors in preparation for next season.
