2:31 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespassing and harassment in the 900 block of Ridge Drive after a man reported he had woken up to find an unknown shirtless man in his bedroom shouting at him. The suspect was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
10:03 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of East Main Street on a municipal warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of stealing a cell phone the day before in Gustavo’s Restaurant. The man reportedly told police he had taken the cell phone because he thought it was his, but when asked for his phone number, he said he didn’t have a cell phone.
1:28 p.m.: A woman was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on suspicion of violating municipal bond conditions, possession of alcohol in the park and an open container violation. She was medically cleared due to intoxication.
9:12 p.m.: A woman was arrested at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., on a Douglas County warrant for failure to appear.
10:17 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 200 block of East Fourth Street on three warrants and on suspicion of theft and violation of bond conditions. She was medically cleared due to intoxication.
Thursday, May 31
12:07 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of East Arbecam Avenue on suspicion of vehicular eluding, DUI, reckless driving, failing to use a turn signal when required, failing to stop at a stop sign and driving without proof of insurance after police attempted to pull him over for speeding and making several abrupt turns without signaling. He reportedly refused to stop for police, but they caught up to him after he pulled off the road on Arbecam Avenue and turned off his vehicle’s lights. One officer drew his gun and ordered the man out of his vehicle. He reportedly got out, looked at the officer, and got back in his vehicle, prompting the officer to tell him to get out again and kneel on the ground. The man reportedly said he had been drinking at Blondie’s Trophy Room with some friends from his workplace. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
5:14 a.m.: A man was arrested on two warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
2:02 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 30 block of West Seventh Street after a man reported a window on a residence had been broken. The case remains under investigation.
Friday, June 1
10:28 a.m.: A man was arrested on a municipal warrant for failure to appear in the 400 block of East Montezuma Avenue after police performed a welfare check on him because he was lying in the grass. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
11:23 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 800 block of South Cedar Street. A woman reported a purse valued at $500, $200 in cash and a pair of sunglasses valued at $170 had been stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime between 7:30 p.m. the previous day and 10 a.m. that morning. The case remains under investigation.
4:56 p.m.: A man was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on suspicion of violating municipal bond conditions after police responded to a report that he and another man were intoxicated and bothering passersby. The man was medically cleared due to intoxication.
5:16 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief at Mane Shipping, 404 W. Main St. The business owner reported someone had cut the cable to a security camera on the property. By reviewing the video the camera captured before the cord was cut, police recognized a suspect. They planned to issue him a summons for criminal mischief and trespassing after receiving the estimated cost of the property damage.
11:53 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1900 block of East Main Street on suspicion of violating municipal bond conditions after police responded to a report of an intoxicated man in the area. He was medically cleared due to severe intoxication.
Saturday, June 2
4:26 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 1100 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI and speeding after police responded to a report that he had been involved in a disturbance at Holiday Inn Express. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
4:27 a.m.: A man was arrested at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear after police responded to a report that he had been involved in a disturbance at Holiday Inn Express. He was being treated for a laceration on his head, but reportedly said he couldn’t remember what had happened at the motel.
7:15 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Main Street Brewery, 21 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating municipal bond conditions and an open container violation after he reportedly passed out in front of the restaurant. He was medically cleared due to severe intoxication.
8:25 p.m.: Two men were arrested at Burger King, 520 W. Main St., on suspicion of DUI and prohibited use of weapons, respectively, after restaurant employees reported they had fallen asleep in their vehicle at the drive-thru entrance. An AR-15 rifle was reportedly visible between the two front seats, and a handgun was found in the passenger’s waistband. Four cans of beer and two small bottles of liquor were also found in the vehicle. The passenger was medically cleared due to intoxication.
10:22 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of Wyoming Street on a Colorado Department of Corrections felony warrant and on suspicion of violating a protection order after police responded to a report of a disturbance. He was medically cleared due to intoxication. A woman in the residence was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital with injuries, but the witnesses were uncooperative, and police were unable to find out what had happened in the disturbance.
10:43 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 200 block of North Adams Street on suspicion of violating a protection order after police approached her for reportedly walking in the roadway. She was medically cleared due to intoxication.
Sunday, June 3
3:06 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of North Elm Street on suspicion of interfering with an officer after police responded to a report that he was banging on the door of a residence. He reportedly tried to run away from police when they approached him, but fell down in front of an officer. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
11:49 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of East Main Street on a municipal warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of violating bond conditions. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
3:14 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Ute Mountain Motel, 531 S. Broadway, on four warrants after police responded to a report of a disturbance. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
6:19 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of North Mildred Road on suspicion of violating bond conditions. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
7:26 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of South Sligo Street on suspicion of violating bond conditions and interfering with an officer after police responded to a verbal argument between him and several other people. When an officer told him to sit down, he reportedly started walking toward the officer and saying “say please.” When he continued to disobey commands to sit, the officer reportedly grabbed his shirt and pushed him down to the sidewalk. The man then reportedly tried to punch the officer, who responded by pushing on his chest. During the arrest, the man also reportedly hit his head against the patrol car repeatedly, saying “stop hitting me.” He was medically cleared due to intoxication and possible head injury.
11:59 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 20 block of North Beech Street on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after his landlord reported he was fighting with his girlfriend. The woman reportedly had a large cut above her left eyebrow and swelling all over the right side of her head, while the suspect had fresh cuts on the knuckles and palm of his left hand. Both the woman and the suspect said the suspect had not hit her, and she had inflicted the injuries on herself by hitting her head against the wall. But the landlord said he had overheard someone breaking things in the apartment, and believed the suspect had thrown something at his girlfriend. The suspect was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance due to intoxication, where medical personnel discovered scratch marks on his chest that he said were from his girlfriend. The woman was transported to a detox center in Durango because of her intoxicated state.
Monday, June 4
4:51 a.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a municipal warrant for failure to appear.
7:15 a.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 700 block of Canyon Drive. A woman reported a window on her vehicle had been shattered by what appeared to be a BB gun. The case was listed as inactive due to a lack of leads.
1:16 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of East Seventh Street on suspicion of violating a protection order after the protected party reported he had come to her home. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
3:17 p.m.: A woman was arrested at United Methodist Church, 515 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of resisting arrest. Police reportedly contacted her parked vehicle, and when she refused to get out of the vehicle, they dragged her out. She was medically cleared due to the use of force, and reportedly said she did not want to leave the hospital after her clearance because she hadn’t received adequate medical treatment. Police told her she could speak with the nurse at the jail.
11:26 p.m.: A man arrested on suspicion of assault the previous day was arrested again in the 20 block of North Beech Street on suspicion of violating a protection order after a neighbor reported he had entered the house of the protected party through a window. While police were speaking with the neighbor, the suspect reportedly approached them, covered in leaves and carrying a tree branch. Three bottles of 99 proof alcohol were found in his possession. He was medically cleared due to severe intoxication.
Tuesday, June 5
2 a.m.: A woman attempted to turn herself in to the old Montezuma County Justice Building, 601 N. Mildred Road. When police located her, she was arrested on a municipal warrant for failure to appear.
3:17 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of West Seventh Street on suspicion of violating a protection order after an officer reportedly saw him walking with the protected party. During his transport to jail, he reportedly banged his head against the partition in the patrol vehicle, resulting in lacerations on his forehead. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
5:18 p.m.: Police responded to a report of bicycle theft in the 10 block of East Main Street. A man reported he had locked his green and black mountain bike, valued at $600, to a sign while drinking at Blondie’s Trophy Room the previous night, and it had gone missing by the time he went back for it the next morning. The case remains under investigation.
