Earlier this summer, we watched with awe as the most recent Mars lander, Curiosity, floated safely to the surface of the red planet beginning a long mission to learn new secrets of Mars. That mission flew a sophisticated ship, not a beat-up Plymouth, deep into space. The Mars program is driven by very bright people with determination and guts as well as incredible technology at their fingertips. This is how we humans move forward.
Now the residents of the Cortez school district have the opportunity to help move their students forward by supporting 3B and parking the beat-up Plymouth in favor of a 21st century model. Supporting this important initiative provides the technology, tools, and place necessary for our students to excel in a quickly advancing and changing world. 21st century schools and students with the support of inspired teachers and parents will move our students forward, keeping pace with their peers in other schools in Colorado.
The costs associated with this proposal are negligible in comparison to the cost of ignoring the educational needs of our young people. We must be willing to truly support our community and our studentsÂ’ futures. Roads, fire protection and law enforcement are paid by taxpayers for the wellbeing of their communities. By no means should we ignore the fundamental needs of our students by not providing sufficient facilities to ensure their academic success that a new school will help support.
Make the choice to move our students into the future with premier educational facilities. Support 3B for the success of our students and our community.
