Montezuma County DAR plants flags for Memorial Day

Members honor veterans at area cemeteries

A flag decorates the grave of World War II veteran Robert Crawford, a bronze star medal recipient, in Fairview Cemetery. The DAR placed flags on about 500 veterans’ graves in 19 cemeteries around Montezuma County.

Memorial Day Events

6 a.m.: Cortez Cemetery ceremony


7 a.m.: Veterans Breakfast at the American Legion, 320 N. Harrison St.


9:45 a.m.: Dolores Community Center ceremony, 400 Riverside Ave. A cannon will be fired.


11:30 a.m.: Rico Cemetery ceremony.
