9:33 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an assault in the 13000 block of County Road 33. Statements from a witness reportedly did not line up with statements from the victim. The case remains under investigation.

Monday, May 14

2:12 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 25000 block of County Road T. A resident reported several items had been stolen over the past three weeks.

Tuesday, May 15

10:30 a.m.: A property owner in the 10000 block of County Road 43, Mancos, was cited on suspicion of obstructing government operations after deputies responded to a report he had parked a track hoe on top of overflow for the town’s water treatment settling ponds. He reportedly said he was trying to get a settlement from the town, which had recorded the easement for the ponds incorrectly. Deputies advised him to pursue the matter civilly.

10:51 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of burglary in the 22000 block of County Road CC, Pleasant View. Several firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition were reported stolen.

12:38 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

12:49 p.m.: A woman was served at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., with seven felony and misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply.

2:27 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on two warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply.

3 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of fraud in the 18000 block of County Road Z, Yellow Jacket. A woman reported two unapproved money transfers from her credit card, totaling $1,400.

Tuesday, May 15

Thursday, May 17

7:24 a.m.: Deputies responded to a traffic accident in the 23000 block of Colorado Highway 184. A vehicle had reportedly crashed into a power pole. A female occupant was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital after complaining of pain. Colorado State Patrol took over the crash investigation.

8:57 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of abandoned property in the 700 block of Railroad Avenue, Dolores.

12:56 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a protection order violation at the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St. Deputies determined the protection order allowed for non-harassing contact between two people, and their reported conversation was not harassing in nature.

4:36 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of assault in the 14000 block of County Road 20. After arriving, they decided the report was false and closed the case.

Friday, May 18

1:27 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at Ute Mountain Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive, Towaoc. Security camera footage showed the suspect hitting a parked vehicle multiple times before leaving the parking lot and heading toward Cortez. The hit-and-run investigation was turned over to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

4:23 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a motorcycle accident in the 8000 block of County Road 25. The investigation was turned over to Colorado State Patrol.

Saturday, May 19

2:47 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report from the Bureau of Indian Affairs that a suspicious vehicle was speeding toward Cortez. After seeing evidence of a crash in the 4000 block of U.S. Highway 160, they pulled over a badly damaged vehicle on County Road D. The driver reportedly admitted to drinking three pitchers of beer before driving. Colorado State Patrol took over the investigation.

11:21 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an attempted break-in in the 25000 block of County Road S.6. The case remains under investigation.

1:23 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 28000 block of County Road K.2. A woman who was recently evicted from her residence claimed some of her belongings had been taken from the residence before she had a chance to leave. A man who had also been evicted said it also happened to him. The case remains under investigation.

3:10 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of stolen license plates in the 200 block of Rustling Willow Street, Cortez. The case remains under investigation.

9:17 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of burning during a fire ban in the area of Boggy Draw, Dolores, after deputies responded to a report of a small fire in a portable fire pit. The man said he was aware of the fire ban, but thought it only applied to fires on the ground.

Sunday, May 20

1:44 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 38000 block of Colorado Highway 184. They found a four-wheeler that had been reported stolen out of Payson, Arizona, parked on the side of the road. No suspects were immediately identified.

5:41 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of third-degree assault in the 24000 block of County Road S.8 after a process server reported he had yelled at her to leave his property and shoved her against her car when she tried to serve him with some legal documents. The man reportedly denied shoving the woman, but told deputies he had told her to get off his property because she had entered despite the “no trespassing” signs. A neighbor who witnessed the incident supported the alleged victim’s story, and requested the suspect be trespassed from her property. Deputies served him with a trespass notice.
