Editor:
I was saddened to learn the Cortez Cultural Center may be in danger of closing its doors. I have been a supporter and volunteer at the Center for several years and have always felt the arts to be a vital, necessary part of a vibrant community. It seems any time it is necessary to cut back support, the arts and education suffer the most. In these times of recession, we all have to tighten our belts. But if we want something bad enough, we find a way to keep it. Let us hope the Cortez Cultural Center is one of those important venues we will work hard to support and maintain.
