Here is a reminder that the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce grant application is due Nov. 1. It is available on-line at www.mancosvalley.com. Or, you can send an e-mail to [email protected], and I will be happy to send an application to you. A telephone call works too at 533-7434. If you or your organization has a program or project that encourages visitors and tourists to stop in Mancos, you might qualify for a grant to help fund your efforts. The Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce has been pleased to support community projects like the Mancos Valley/Mesa Verde Country Balloon and Arts Festival and the Chicken Creek Nordic Ski Area.
The Mancos Visitor Center is getting ready for a change in office hours as we move into colder weather. The number of visitors into the VC has definitely dropped off. In fact, last Saturday there were two couples who stopped into the VC for information. Therefore, beginning Saturday, Oct. 27, the VC will be closed on Saturdays until the first of May, 2013. The new office hours for the VC, beginning Monday Oct. 29, will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
