A woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision Monday night on Colorado Highway 140 near the New Mexico line.
State Patrol Capt. Adrian Driscoll said the head-on crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. near mile marker 6, about 6 miles north of the state line.
He could not provide additional information because the crash was on tribal land and is within the jurisdiction of the Southern Ute Police Department.
Lindsay Box, spokeswoman for the tribe, said SUPD is investigating the crash.
“Unfortunately, the accident resulted in one deceased female,” Box said in an email to The Durango Herald. “No other additional details can be shared at this time, allowing for notification to the deceased’s family and protecting the investigation.”
