10:52 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of South Broadway on two warrants for failure to appear after a Bridge Emergency Shelter worker requested a welfare check on him.
Thursday, April 12
9:40 a.m.: Police responded to a report someone had damaged a deputy’s patrol vehicle while it was parked at his house in the 10 block of East 13th Street. The deputy said the tires on the passenger side had been torn between 7:30 p.m. the previous day and 6:30 a.m., causing between $250 and $299 in damage. The case remains under investigation.
12:22 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St. A bond agent reported a man who was issued a GPS monitor bracelet in February had not made contact with it since March 16. The bracelet was reportedly worth $1,675, and without it the bond agent could not locate the suspect. Police requested an warrant for theft.
3:11 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of trespassing at Conoco Gas Station, 302 W. Main St.
9:44 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and resisting arrest at Dollar Tree, 215 S. Sligo St., after a Walmart employee reported he was in the store despite having a trespass notice. When officers caught up with him, he was in Dollar Tree with a box of candy in his pocket. When officers approached him, he reportedly threw the box at one of them. While he was being arrested, he reportedly tried to trip the officers and refused to get into their patrol car, forcing them to pull him in. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
Friday, April 13
1:18 a.m.: A man was arrested at National 9 Inn, 301 W. Main St., on a La Plata County warrant after police responded to a report of a disturbance in his room.
2:36 p.m.: A man was arrested at Dollar Tree, 215 S. Sligo St., on a La Plata County warrant after police responded to a report of a fight between him and a woman at Walmart. Officers reportedly found him locked in a bathroom at Dollar Tree after fleeing Walmart, but he opened the door for them when they knocked.
3 p.m.: Two men were transferred to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., from La Plata County on Montezuma County warrants.
11:11 p.m.: A man and a woman were cited on suspicion of harassment at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. A woman reported the female suspect, her ex-boyfriend’s sister, had assaulted her, bloodying her lip and bruising her jaw. The ex-boyfriend later reported the male suspect, the woman’s new boyfriend, had sent him a threatening text message in response.
Saturday, April 14
1:42 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI in the 1000 block of East Montezuma Avenue after he was pulled over for almost crashing into a patrol car. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
8:42 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Market Street on a warrant for failure to appear after he was pulled over for speeding.
10:40 a.m.: A man was arrested outside Dolores State Bank, 744 E. Main St, on suspicion of third-degree assault after another man reported he had pushed him into the wall of the restrooms at Centennial Park, cutting back of his head. The suspect was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication, and the injured man was transported to the hospital for treatment.
8:02 p.m.: A woman was cited on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after employees reported she had tried to steal $8.41 worth of deli items by concealing them in her purse.
11:48 p.m.: A man was cited in the 10 block of South Madison Street on suspicion of driving while impaired, driving without seat belts for himself or his passenger, driving under restraint and failing to display headlights when required.
Sunday, April 15
1:20 a.m.: A woman was cited in the 600 block of North Broadway on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and weaving after she was pulled over for speeding. She reportedly told police she had been drinking at Blondie’s Trophy Room. The responding officer gave her a verbal warning for speeding.
Monday, April 16
1:32 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, failing to present proof of insurance and driving with a defective brake light. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
11:45 p.m.: One woman was cited and another was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., after police responded to a report they were drinking near the restrooms. One woman was cited on suspicion of an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park, and the other was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order. The latter suspect was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
Tuesday, April 17
1:50 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 30 block of West Seventh Street. A man reported the outer glass on a double-pane window in his and his wife’s house had been broken, causing $150 in damage. The case remains under investigation.
8:25 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating two protection orders and violating bond conditions after police contacted him for reportedly chasing a couple through the park. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
8:27 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear.
9:43 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of East Seventh Street on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer after police responded to a report he was causing a disturbance outside an apartment on East Fifth Street. When an officer approached him, he reportedly got on his bike and rode away, leading officers on a foot chase until they lost him on East Sixth Street. An officer later caught up with the man as he entered a trailer park. He was cleared due to intoxication.
11:13 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing after employees reported he was intoxicated and refusing to leave. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
