I was glad to read (Journal, Feb. 25) that U.S. District Judge William Orrick has stopped the Trump administration from stalling clean-air rules, especially for methane.
I did not get to read this article immediately because I had just been to the eye doctor, and my eyes were dilated. The dilation was part of a routine vision exam, but the main reason I went to the doctor was that I have been having a bad time with burning eyes and skin, which I am almost sure is caused by air pollution.
How much any of this is the result of methane, I do not know, but I am sure that it is a contributing factor. I wish there were a pollution-monitoring station in Montezuma County, probably at the airport so that we could find out from day to day what is really in our air, including such things as methane and sulfur dioxide.
We cannot let energy and mining company profits outweigh public health. I would also like to commend The Journal for the Feb. 26 editorial, “Listen to Them,” and for all three letters on the page.
