10:40 a.m.: A deputy attempted to serve a writ of restitution to a resident being evicted from an apartment in the 500 block of South Madison Street. No one answered the deputy’s knock, so he attached the documents to the door.

Thursday, March 15

1:29 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 24000 block of County Road G on suspicion of vehicular eluding, DUI, reckless driving, speeding, driving under restraint and obstructing a peace officer after a deputy attempted to pull him over for driving an estimated 82 mph in a 40 mph zone. The man reportedly refused to stop, turning off his headlights and weaving from one side of the road to the other. As the patrol car caught up with him, the man reportedly turned into a driveway, stopped his car and ran out toward a shed, where deputies found him hiding under a table and trying to cover his hiding place with a sheet of drywall. A bottle of rum was found in his vehicle.

Friday, March 16

1:29 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a possible stolen credit card in the 27000 block of County Road M.7. A moving company employee reported a man had hired him to help him move from Arlington, Texas, to Chicago, and had tried to pay with a credit card that didn’t match the name he gave. Deputies notified the man whose name was on the credit card. The moving company employee reportedly said he was not going to run the card.

Saturday, March 17

1 a.m.: A man and a woman were arrested at Ute Mountain Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive, after patrol deputies reportedly saw them get into a vehicle in the parking lot that matched the description of one that was stolen from Monticello, Utah. Two containers of marijuana and more than a dozen hypodermic needles, two of which contained a substance that one suspect identified as meth, were found in the vehicle. Both suspects reportedly denied having the keys to the vehicle, but one deputy’s body camera footage later showed the woman had thrown the keys into the back of a pickup. The woman was arrested on a San Juan County, New Mexico, warrant for felony possession of dangerous drugs, and on suspicion of aggravated motor vehicle theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open marijuana container in a vehicle, tampering with physical evidence and obstruction of a peace officer. The man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated motor vehicle theft, unlawful possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an open marijuana container in a vehicle.

3:21 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft at the Four States Ag Expo at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds, 30100 Highway 160. Two vendors claimed three rings had gone missing from their booth, and described two women they suspected of stealing them. Deputies contacted the women, who reportedly allowed them to search their belongings, but they did not find the rings. The case remains under investigation.
