ICE revokes Bayfield business owner’s permission to stay in U.S.

Agency rejected man’s fifth ‘stay’; agency in process of deporting him
Bayfield resident Edin Ramos was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during a scheduled check-in Feb. 5 in Durango. Ramos moved to the United States from Honduras 15 years ago. He has tried to obtain lawful permanent residence since marrying his wife, Thalia, in 2006.
Edin Ramos was granted four stays of removal by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement since March 2013. On Nov. 13, 2017, ICE denied his fifth request for a stay of removal. Ramos is being held in an immigration detention cell in Aurora until he can be deported back to his home country of Honduras.
Bayfield resident Edin Ramos and his wife, Thalia, have three children, ages 6, 8 and 10. With Edin facing imminent deportation, Thalia must decide whether to remain in the United States with a fractured family, or leave her home to join Edin in Honduras.
The Ramoses own a medical facility cleaning business, Sun Cleaning, and a commercial laundry business, Sun Linen Services, which together employ 13 people.
