Cindy Mihelich is leaving her post as interim executive dean at Southwest Colorado Community College at the end of the month.
Mihelich was named to the position earlier this year after the deans of the Cortez/Mancos and Durango campuses were let go. She also oversaw the Pagosa Springs campus.
We want to publicly acknowledge the work shes done over the years, said Patty Erjavic, SCCC president. Mihelich has worked for the college for more than 30 years.
She is retiring due to family health issues, Erjavic said.
There will be no structural changes at the college with Mihelichs departure. Were still headed toward a regional model of excellence, said Erjavic, who has been in her position just over two years.
The college will begin looking for Mihelichs replacement shortly. The National Registry of College and University Executives in Massachusetts will provide SCCC a list of names, Erjavic said. The college plans to hire someone who wants to live in Southwest Colorado.
Erjavic is unsure if the college will hire an interim or permanent dean.
If an interim dean is hired, that person would be on staff for one year and would recommend a permanent replacement.
