Mancos will be hosting opening weekend for youth football for the San Juan Basin League on Sept. 8. Teams attending will be Dove Creek, Norwood, Towaoc and host Mancos. Games will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude around 5 p.m.
Last season was the first season for Mancos Youth Football and it concluded with a League Championship! This year the Blue Jays are represented by two teams 3rd and 4th grades combined and 5th and 6th grades combined. The Blue Jays bring back a host of familiar faces and have welcomed many more to Blue Jay Brotherhood.
The heartbeat of this community is found in between the walls of our schools.We encourage the entire community to come out and support these young men. To see the entire community pull together and stand together is what supporting our kids is all about, coach Alan Mathews said.
Parents of the players will be having a tailgate barbecueto welcome the entire community to join them in the kick off celebration.
