I was discouraged to read the letter from a reader about Escalante Days and the focus on the Hollywood Bar arson. I agree with the writer of that letter that the emphasis put on the Hollywood is overblown, but it is just a result of the influences of certain people who implemented the event.
I am proud that I call Dolores my home. On Escalante Days, the Rotary Club hosted the 14th annual bike race with 84 racers an event that encourages healthy living, and the funds are used for scholarships and other great things locally. Dont be discouraged by a few people this is a great community, and I did and will take my hat off to veterans and those who help make it a better place.
