4:59 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 900 block of East Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after the vehicle in which she was a passenger was pulled over for driving with a non-functioning brake light. The female driver was given a warning for the brake light.
8:58 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of West Fifth Street on suspicion of being intoxicated in the roadway after a witness reported he was stumbling around and yelling in the middle of the street. Police had reportedly contacted him a few hours earlier for a disturbance, and had given him a ride to the Bridge Emergency Shelter. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to jail, due to severe intoxication.
10:35 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of trespassing at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. He had reportedly been issued an indefinite trespass notice about a week earlier after employees discovered him huffing glue in the restroom.
Friday, Jan. 26
4:06 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a vehicle fire at Giant gas station, 2021 E. Main St. An officer reportedly used a fire extinguisher to help put out flames that were coming from the engine of a vehicle parked near a fuel pump. The owner reportedly said he didn’t realize the engine was smoking until he had pulled up to the pump. Responding officers called a tow truck for him after he removed his belongings from the car, and gave him a ride to a motel.
11:22 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of East Seventh Street on suspicion of violating a protection order after police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to apparent intoxication.
Saturday, Jan. 27
9:42 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of East Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge and on suspicion of driving under restraint, driving without proof of insurance and failure to display proper registration after he was pulled over for a non-functioning brake light.
5:09 p.m.: A man was issued a summons at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after police responded to a report of a disturbance. The man reportedly tore the summons into pieces and threw them on the ground. He was also issued a trespass notice from the store.
6:29 p.m.: The same man from the previous incident was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing after police responded to a report that he was arguing with employees and making threats. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to apparent intoxication.
Sunday, Jan. 28
1:24 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Second Street on suspicion of violating bond conditions after police responded to a report of an intoxicated pedestrian yelling at passing vehicles. The man was reportedly lying face down in a residential yard when police contacted him. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
3:31 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of violating a protection order in City Park, 802 E. Main St. Officers originally intended to arrest him, but after transporting him to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance, they reportedly learned from hospital staff that he could be suffering a drug overdose. He was left with medical personnel for treatment.
4:28 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St., after store employees reported he had stolen two cases of beer valued at $35.98 total, and had driven off on one of the store’s motorized scooters. The scooter was returned.
Monday, Jan. 29
12:12 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of North Roger Smith Avenue on suspicion of driving under restraint as a habitual traffic offender.
5:54 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of trespassing at City Market, 508 E. Main St., after police responded to a report that he was requesting an ambulance for himself. He was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital, but reportedly refused to see a doctor. At his request, police gave him a courtesy ride to an apartment complex in Cortez.
8:57 p.m.: A woman turned herself into the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.
