The Romney/Ryan election platform of tinkering with Social Security and Medicare defies explanation. exorbitant spending and the national debt are because Congress steals money from the Social Security Trust Fund to pay for pork projects and wars and leaves IOUs. These IOUs become Treasury bonds that are sold to investors (foreign nations) that receive the interest payment on their investment while the principal among continues to grow.
The Social Security Trust Fund has always produced a surplus every year that the political bureaucrats divert bylaw money out of the Social Security Trust Fund into a general fund under the pretense of discretionary or appropriations. In other words, if you cant take it out the front door, sneak it out the back door.
