Rep. Scott Tipton recently spoke in Montrose in an event for Steven Baskis, a recipient of a Homes For Our Troops house.
While serving in Iraq, Baskis was injured during combat, which resulted in a traumatic brain injury as well as damage to his sinus cavities, arteries and nerves in his left arm and a total loss of his sight.
Homes for Our Troops is a great program that builds new, adapted home homes for severely injured veterans across the U.S.
It was good that Tipton spoke at this event. However, it is unfortunate and inexcusable that Scott Tipton does nothing and expresses no concern for those killed and those suffering lifelong debilitating injuries from gun violence in Colorado and the rest of the U.S.
It appears he only demonstrates empathy and makes appearances when it benefits him politically.
