A 60-year-old California man died Tuesday after losing control of his motorcycle on Bear Creek Trail off Highway 145 in Montezuma County south of Rico.
According to a press release from the Montezuma County Sheriffs Office, deputies responded to the location regarding a missing motorcyclist after he disappeared from the group he was riding with.
The press release said that a group of motorcyclists had been riding on the Bear Creek Trail when a member of the group disappeared.
While the search and rescue team was being assembled, a member of the riding group said that he had found the rider in a narrow drainage ditch in shallow water with the motorcycle on top of him.
The rider was not identified but was described as a very experienced rider who had ridden all over the world.
