This 10-week afterschool program will start the week of Sept. 3 and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. at Dolores Elementary School. Registration will be done during the first week of school and is limited to 15 girls. Girls on the Run is a curriculum-based program for third- throughfifth-grade girls that incorporates walking and running with healthy life habits.

All athletic levels and abilities are welcome. Through interactive activities, such as running and playing games, as well as discussing important health issues, participants learn how to celebrate believing in themselves and utilizing healthy life-long habits.

The Fall 2012 GOTR program anticipates more than 750 girls across 10 Western Slope counties participating.The Girls on the Run of Western Colorado program is one of the largest GOTR councils in the United States and Canada with one of the lowest registration fees, with need-based scholarships readily available.
