In 2012, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for all nations to provide affordable and universal health care for their citizens.
Rallies around the world took place on Dec. 12 to further this concept globally.
Locally, Durango is hosted a rally at Buckley Park and our organization, Montezuma Alliance for Unity, was there. The rally was especially pertinent since we all have just learned that the Affordable Care Act is in serious trouble due to the passage of a tax reform act, which will further undermine the ability of many people in our nation to obtain affordable health insurance.
Our country remains the only developed nation lacking universal health care coverage and our costs are nearly double those of other countries who ensure their citizens access to affordable care.
