July theme for Cortez Library Storytime is Craving Sleep
Craving Sleep is the July theme of Raising Readers Storytime at the Cortez Public Library, located at 202 N. Park St. Storytime is held every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for preschool-aged children. Older children are welcome to join in for the craft at 11:15 a.m. on Fridays. The Saturday Storytime is held, weather permitting, at the Cortez Farmers Market on the corner of Elm and Main St. All days of any particular week will follow the same theme except on Thursdays and Saturdays there will be no craft. Mancos Days Queen Tea

Annual Mancos Days Book Sale
The Mancos Friends of the Library will hold their Annual Mancos Days Book Sale at the library, 211 W. First St., on Friday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a Friends Only Ice Cream Social with early bird shopping for all members of the Mancos Friends of the Library on Thursday, July 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. Memberships will be available at the door. For Pets Sake Humane Society Summer Wine Festival
For Pets Sake will hold its fifth annual Summer Wine Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, at Cliffrose High Desert Gardens just east of Cortez on Highway 160. The evening will include wines and a few choice beers provided by Smittys Liquors, yummy appetizers, solo piano by Lee Bartley, and a Silent Auction featuring items and gift certificates from your favorite businesses, restaurants, artists, and vacation destinations. Tickets are $25 each or two for $40, and are available before the event at Cliffrose Gardens and at the door. All proceeds benefit the cats and dogs of Montezuma and Dolores Counties. Mancos Days Pancake Breakfast
Boy Scout Troop 518 would like to invite you to their annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, July 28 before the Mancos Days Parade. The scouts of Troop 518 invite the community to come and enjoy pancakes and sausage from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Mancos School Cafeteria, 355 Grand Ave. The cost for the breakfast is $5 for an adult all you can eat. A family of two adults and two children under 10 may eat for $12, so bring the whole family! Tickets for the breakfast are available at the door that morning. Chimney Choir plays the Dolores River Brewery
The band Chimney Choir has recently returned from a European tour and will be playing a handful of Colorado mountain towns this summer. See them perform at Dolores River Brewery, 100 N. 4th St., on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. Chimney Choir skillfully interweaves genres resulting in a folk meets world music sound, steeped in psychedelia. All multi-instrumentalists, writers and singers, Kevin Larkin, David Rynhart and Kris Drickey change instruments (sometimes within a song) and sing in three-part harmony while balancing field recordings and computer synths with traditional acoustic instrumentation. On Thursday, Aug. 30, an Incredibly Basic Computer Skills class will be taught. This is our beginning class. If you have little or no computer skills, this is the class for you! The Cortez Hot Air Balloon Rendezvous will take place at 6:30 a.m. on Friday through Sunday, Aug. 3-5, at Parque de Vida. Participating hot air balloons will be in Cortez from New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, and Colorado. This event is known as small-town flying at its best! This is a family event, so plan to bring along your kids and become crew for a hot air balloon it is really a lot of fun. Noted Buddhist teacher, author to speak
Noted Buddhist teacher and international best-selling author Lama Surya Das will speak in Durango on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Masonic Youth Car Wash fundraiser
The Masonic Youth will hold a car wash fundraiser on Sunday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mobil station at Main and Washington St. Funds raised will help Bethel 42 of Jobs Daughters International to attend the Grand Session in Denver. Summer Enrichment Programs at Medicine Horse
Medicine Horse Equine Therapy Center are holding their final Summer Enrichment Program of this season.
