Michael Franti & Spearhead will return to Durango to play an outdoor concert at Three Springs on Saturday, August 11. Michael Franti is the creator and lead singer of Michael Franti & Spearhead. The Bay Area born Franti has been bringing exceptionally powerful, deeply felt music in a wide range of genres for twenty years. From the intense punk rock of the Beatnigs, to the deeply political rap he made with the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy to his joyful and meaningful modern soul music with Spearhead, and now as Michael Franti & Spearhead, this still-young man has released an impressive series of recordings that have vividly reflected his status as a musical citizen of this world. Michael Franti & Spearhead performed a sold-out show in Mancos in September of 2008 and performed again at Three Springs in 2010.
Gates open at 1 p.m. Opening band Zach Heckendorf plays at 3 p.m. and Spearhead begins at 5 p.m. Seating is festival style, the show goes on, rain or shine; no glass or outside alcohol is allowed; there will be food vendors and wine and Ska beer will be sold.Tami Graham Presents will be sponsoring a free day for all riders on the Durango Transit system, which includes transportation to and from Three Springs.
Tickets for this stop on Frantis summer 2012 Do It For The Love tour are on sale now and can be purchased in Durango at Animas Trading Co., Three Springs Information Center, and online at www.frontgatetickets.com. Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 at the door and $100 for VIP, which includes special seating, beer, wine and appetizers.
