Shawn Gregory has joined the Region 9 Economic Development District’s Business Loan Fund Committee as a Montezuma County representative.
Acording to a Region 9 news release, Gregory founded Tuffy Security Products at age 19 and relocated to Cortez, where the company is based. Tuffy Security provides hundreds of standard products such a console lock boxes with applications for vehicles. He has founded a variety of other small businesses, has a variety of patents and a registered trademark. As an endurance mountain bike racer, he has helped build and promote Montezuma County’s local trail systems, working with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Gregory says his interest in serving on the loan committee is to help entrepreneurs, the news release said.
Region 9’s loan committee is composed of two representatives from each of the five counties in Southwest Colorado, plus two at-large positions with at least one person with loan-making experience, one person with an accounting background, one person with a real estate background and two with a background in business.
The Region 9 board of directors is composed of representatives from the 17 local governmental jurisdictions and nine members from the private sector.
