Esther Draper celebrated her 102nd birthday on Friday, June 1, at a birthday event at Vista Mesa Assisted Living in Cortez with friends and relatives. Born June 1, 1910, in Peckham, Colo., Esther attended what was then Colorado Teachers College in Greeley, Colo. and taught school for awhile. She then married Ed Draper and lived in Denver for the majority of her life, until moving to Vista Mesa to be closer to one of her two daughters, Patricia Westover, and her grandson and his wife, Craig and Jackie Westover. Her other daughter lives in Oregon. She has five grandsons, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Esther stays young by pursuing activities she loves; she enjoys playing poker and bingo, going on trips, doing exercises, and taking walks outside at Vista Mesa. She also likes to listen to her audio books. She must be doing something right!
