According to the Aug. 22 Journal, the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC)test scores for District RE 1 were announced:
For elementary school, 23 percent of students met or exceeded expectations in language, 16 percent in math. For middle school, 19 percent of students met or exceeded expectations in language, 11 percent in math. At the high school, 14 percent of students met or exceeded expectations in language, 8 percent in math. With these results, would someone explain why pay raises are merited?
Teachers’ salaries range from $29,250 for step 0 to $61,307 for step 24.
We pay enough taxes already.
