In my opinion, Ballot Proposition 3B is poorly worded.
Our teachers should be better paid. Too many of our good teachers have left Cortez for better-paying jobs in other districts and other states.
Prop. 3B gives no inkling how much of the increased mill levy would be used to better pay our teachers. Without superior teachers, even updated technology is of little use. It would be nice to have a new car or a new bus when the older ones start to need repairs, but we can’t always have that luxury.
Property owners cannot continue to bear the tax-and-spend policy, and it is unfair for others to be able to load it off on us.
