In July of this year, a request was made to the secretary of state of each state by the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity to provide publicly available voter data – including names, addresses, party affiliations and birth years.
This submission from our Secretary of State was delayed due to court challenges, but eventually was made to the commission on August 1.
In the time between the request and submission, many Colorado voters chose either to withdraw their registration, or to request that their information be made confidential.
Confidential voters will receive ballots (including for primaries) and can vote as they would normally, but they will not be on the list for their party’s caucus.
Upon request by the voter, the political party will need to call the office of the County Clerk to verify their affiliation.
If you have canceled your registration, you must re-register in order to vote in upcoming elections this November, including those of the local school boards. This can be done on-line at govotecolorado.com, or with your Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder’s office.
