Concerning the Harvest Beer Festival, is it really a fun family event? And the kids activities are really fun? Since when does beer mix with family fun or kids? This seems like an oxymoron.
I have been shocked to see that this is an annual event in Cortez, and that children and families are being mixed in as if alcohol and families, especially those with young children, is fun, much less a good idea.
I guess you can safely say that Colorado is definitely not in the Bible Belt, but it seems we grow more liberal every day.
I’m shaking my head. As someone who does not drink or use drugs, I’m appalled this event is promoted as a fun family event, and am appalled that parents and community leaders would promote such a poor life choice and negative role model for behavior in front of children for the sake of profit.
Alcohol, including beer, is a depressant, a drug, a mind-altering substance and definitely not fun. It wreaks havoc on families, minds, and destroys lives. It is a bad habit and should never be introduced to children as part of “a fun family event.” It also is a gateway to other drugs and poor life behaviors. It lessens inhibitions, crowds the mind away from the indwelling spirit of God, degrades the moral conscience and gives a false sense of security.
