NORWOOD, Colo. — Five people have been charged with fatal child abuse in the deaths of two young girls whose bodies were found on a Colorado farm.
At a Tuesday court hearing in San Miguel County, District Attorney Dan Hotsenpiller said two of the individuals, a man and a woman from Haiti, still could face murder charges.
The Telluride Daily Planet reports that a judge also approved a protective order preventing four of the people from contacting two other young children. Their relationship to the children, who are in state custody, isn’t clear.
Police have said the girls were between the ages of 5 and 10. Their bodies were found Friday on a farm outside Norwood, about 30 miles (48.2 kilometers) west of the ski resort town of Telluride.
