Effective May 25, Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc. will no longer provide management of the Mancos Valley Health Center in Mancos. They have operated the clinic for 12 years. Southwest Health System, Inc. (SHS) will assume management of the clinic beginning May 26.
SHS has been working collaboratively with Valley-Wide since February to transfer operations of the clinic and ensure continuity of care for existing patients, according to a written release from SHS. Several staff, including long-time provider Jeff McElwain, PA-C, will remain with the clinic under SHS management. The clinic will be closed from May 26-30 for staff orientation and computer training. The office will reopen on Thursday, May 31.
We look forward to working with Mancos area residents and were committed to making sure that they have access to healthcare right in their community, said Kent Helwig, CEO of Southwest Health System. We hope to expand services and recruit additional providers to the clinic as the needs to do so become clear, he said.
SHS encourages patients to continue their care at the Mancos Valley Clinic. To arrange for continued care at the clinic, or care at any other SHS affiliated clinic call 564-4664 for assistance.
