Crash on U.S. 160 closes highway, starts brush fire

Cortez firefighters put out a brush fire, apparently caused by a two-car crash, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 160 and County Road F on Friday evening. The highway was closed at 6:26 p.m., and the fire was out by 6:30 p.m.
Montezuma County Sheriff’s deputies directed traffic on Friday evening after a two-car crash caused a small brush fire along U.S. Highway 160 at County Road F. Alternating lanes of traffic on the highway were open from 6:26 to 6:57 p.m. An ambulance was called to the scene because a woman complained of chest pains. Injuries and the cause of the accident had not been released as of Friday evening.
