The total solar eclipse will be visible about 80 percent Monday in Southwest Colorado. The partial eclipse in our area will be visible from 10:18 a.m. to 1:09 p.m., with peak viewing time at 11:41 a.m. Here are area viewing parties:
Hovenweep National Monument: Rangewrs will provide information at ther Hovenweep Visitor Center at 10:30 a.m., before the peak eclipse at 11:40 a.m. For more information, call 970-562-4282 or visit https://www.nps.gov/hove/index.htm
Mancos Public Library, 211 W. First St., Mancos: Mancos Public Library will host a viewing party from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. A livestream of the eclipse from NASA and eclipse-themed snacks will be featured. The first 100 attendees will receive free solar glasses. For more information, visit www.mancoslibrary.org.
Mancos State Park, 42545 Road N, Mancos: Mancos State Park will host a party and offer 100 pairs of eyeglasses to attendees. People will meet at the group picnic area starting at 10 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. Mancos State Park is on County Road N at County Road 42. Anasazi Heritage Center, 27501 Highway 184, Dolores: The Anasazi Heritage Center will host Eclipse Extravaganza!, a free viewing party with hands-on activities, solar-viewing equipment and live feeds from the path of totality. Attendees will learn about solar astronomy, sun safety and cultural connections to the sun. For more information, call 882-5600. Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.: Durango Public Library will hold its event from 10 a.m. to noon and offer eclipse glasses, a variety of solar-eclipse-themed crafts, arts and activities. The event is free and open to all. Viewing glasses are available at the library, and community members are welcome to one pair each.
Florida Mesa Elementary, 216 Highway 172: Florida Mesa Elementary School will host a school-wide eclipse viewing at its campus at 11:20 a.m. The school will provide protective eye wear.
Miller Middle School, 2608 Junction St.: The Miller Middle School Parent Action Committee purchased eclipse-viewing glasses for students and staff, who will watch the solar eclipse at 11:30 a.m. on the school’s football field.

Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio: The Powerhouse Science Center will host a viewing party from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The free event will feature four hands-on activities, viewing glasses and lunar temporary tattoos.
Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, Bayfield: Pine River Library will host an eclipse viewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Solar glasses will be provided, and participants will be able to watch the eclipse from the library. Those who attend can also watch the eclipse via livestream from NASA. Moon pies will be served. For more information, call 884-2222, ext. 510.
Sky Ute Casino Resort, 14324 Highway 172, Ignacio: Sky Ute Casino Resort will host a viewing event starting at 11 a.m. Solar glasses will be provided and people can view the eclipse from the parking lot from 11:30 to 11:45 a.m. For more information, visit www.skyutecasino.com.
Navajo State Park, 1526 County Road 982, Arboles: Navajo State Park will host an eclipse-viewing event from 11 a.m. to noon at the visitor center. Visitors will watch the eclipse with solar glasses provided by the park. There is a $7 per vehicle park admission charge. For more information, call 883-2208.
