I am so grateful to live in such a kind, caring area that would provide a safe place for a deserving woman to live while her immigration status is being addressed (Journal, June 30).
I was privileged to become acquainted with Rosa Sabido and can testify that she is exactly the sort of person that we want to live in this generous country. She is honest, trustworthy, positive and hard working.
She was toiling up to 20 hours a day to support herself and her ailing, elderly parents at several jobs.
She was the secretary for the Catholic churches in our area and had a thriving food business that supplied delicious dishes to dozens of establishments in Cortez, Mancos, Dolores and Durango. Those fortunate customers who have tasted her culinary wares will agree.
She wants nothing more than to live in the country of her choice as a permanent resident, take care of her parents and to be a worthy, productive citizen.
To know her is to love her. Rosa belongs here.
