Cortez youth 4-H archery shooter aims for national prominence

Archery facts

Compound bow: Uses a levering system. Has cables, pulleys, limbs and wheels. Is stiffer, shorter and lighter than a recurve bow.
Recurve bow: More curvy that compound. No wheels or pulleys, and is 70 inches long. Used in Olympic competition. The weighted pressure is greater the more one draws.
Kisik Lee: Head coach of the US Olympic Archery Training Program. Invented the National Training System, which is regarded as the best Olympic method.
Byron Crites: Ranked No. 12 in the junior division (age 16-21) of the U.S. Archery Team.
In Olympic training and competition, an 8-by-8-foot target is used at a distance of 70 meters.
The 2016 Summer Olympic Games are in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
