The Clampers organization is pleased to announce their third annual scholarship offering. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to an area student from one of Southwest Colorados high schools. Eligible students may be a high school student in Cortez (including Southwest Open School), Mancos, Dolores, Dove Creek or Silverton.
The Clampers is a national group originally founded to assist the widows and orphans of miners in California and Colorado, but the group now works to help those in our region who could simply use some help; the group also works to preserve the rich history of western Colorado by placing bronze plaques and monuments at historical sites.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Sunday, April 1.
Application forms are available at the office of each of the above-listed high schools, or contact scholarship chairman Russ Souza at 739-8095 for more information.
