Dear Editor:
I recently read that the home health department Of Southwest Memorial Hospital was going to be closed. It saddened me to know that not only would the dedicated nurses of that department lose their jobs, jobs they are all very compassionate about, but also the community would lose a great resource that, affiliated with the hospital, brought together a continuum of continuity of care.
I thought perhaps money was the underlying issue for a decision that made no sense at all with the large community of elderly in Montezuma and surrounding counties that the home health department serviced, but I guess I was mistaken. I now read that Southwest Memorial Hospital wants to build a new hospital. Really? Do you really think that will change the communitys attitude toward your service? I dont think so. You need to focus on community what you can offer the people around you who help support you! Home health is for the community!
