An anonymous donor recently gave Dolores schools $7,000 and many are thrilled with the results.
The money was divvied up among teachers at the Dolores School District. Those teachers were required to apply for the money and to match the amount of money they received.
The $7,000 was then spread into six minigrants for teachers.
The largest portion went to Megan Tallmidge, who said her $2,900 will be used to expand the outdoor garden at the school.
Teachers will use the money for field trips, a visit from an author and librarian Jonnie Ryan is using her portion of the money to buy electronic books, said Dolores School District Superintendent Scott Cooper.
Dolores Elementary School teacher Mara Vinton received the second largest sum of the money for art programs. She received $1,800.
This very generous donor wanted to remain anonymous and wanted to support our schools, Cooper said.
He added that he hopes this donors kindness will encourage others to do something similar.
We are doing great things with this money and it was so generous, he said.
